Looking for a fun way to help students celebrate their teachers? This adaptable “Appreciation” poetry workshop is perfect for teacher appreciation week, and it also works great for celebrating mothers, fathers, grandaparents, etc. on other special days of the year.
Set up your Teacher Appreciation Week Poetry Activity
Start by giving every student a copy of these digital poetry tile slides. (You can snag this free resource down at the bottom)
Their job is easy! They’ll simply drag the boxes around to create poems expressing their appreciation, then delete the words they don’t want. It’s just like playing with poetry on the fridge, except even easier. If they want to add words, they can drop in text boxes at any time and just use the white higlighter feature to make their text appear to be in a similar white box.
Appreciation Week Poetry: Models
Every poem will look different, but here are a couple of examples, one for a teacher and one for a parent.
Once students are done with their poems, you can have them click “download” and save them as image files to email to the person they want to share their appreciation with, or, if you’ve got the resources, you can print them out to share.
